Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor; Tenure Track; 12-month/30 credit contract in Public Health. 

Summary: The Masters of Public Health Program, within Grand Valley State University’s School of Interdisciplinary Health, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position. This position is a 12-month, 30-credit, full-time position. This position will support the Public Health Program, School of Interdisciplinary Health, and College of Health Professions. 

The position will begin in Winter 2024 and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. 

Required Qualifications and Education: 

  • Ph.D./Ed.D or terminal degree in a discipline connected to Public Health;  

  • State, national, or internationally recognized credential(s) in a health science-related discipline; 

  • Minimum of 3 years in a public health/sciences-related discipline that provides the knowledge to teach Public Health courses; 

  • Commitment to inclusion, equity, diversity, and accessibility to provide an inclusive educational experience to our diverse student population; 

  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in higher education; 

  • Evidence of scholarship or potential to develop scholarly works; 

  • Experience in a health or educational setting. 

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Ability to teach diverse public health emphasis areas, including Health Promotion and Epidemiology;

  • Experience teaching hybrid or online courses;

  • Experience mentoring and advising graduate students.

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

  • Teach courses within the emphasis areas of Health Promotion and Epidemiology within the Public Health Program;

  • Provide advising and mentorship in research for graduate students in the Public Health Program;

  • Facilitate scholarly contributions to the field of public health through grant writing, manuscripts, and other applicable areas;

  • Assist the MPH team to market the public health program and assist in recruitment of prospective students; 

  • Contribute service to the program, School of Interdisciplinary Health, College of Health Professions, Grand Valley State University, and the community.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and degree. Range $85,000-$90,000. 

Department/Division: The School of Interdisciplinary Health’s Public Health Program is housed within the College of Health Professions.

Campus: Grand Valley State University’s Health Science Campus, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
