Business Need / Purpose of Role:
Perform duties required to set up and adjust a variety of machines such as drill press, engine lathe, turret lathe, NC lathe, and machining center to perform established and standard machining operations to produce parts such as volutes, butterfly valve bodies and disks, impellers, etc., utilizing brass, Lewmet, cast iron, or stainless steel. Also, must deburr parts.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:
Including but not limited to:
· Setups involve multi-tooled arrangements on work that has several operations where very close dimensional relations are important.
· Setups involve the changing of the machine chucks, collets, face plates, tool feed rates, grind, shear, etc.
· Responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir’s Duty of Care.
· Vary prescribed methods to compensate for differences in material or machining difficulties.
· Operate machine to prove-out setup and produce pilot work piece for inspection.
· Diagnose machine or tooling malfunction and make the proper and corrective adjustments.
· Work from complex blueprints, part drawings, specifications, setup instructions, etc.
· Any and all other duties assigned

Precision measurement with micrometers, calipers, etc.
Familiarity with CNC Programming (G&M codes)
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Basic computer operation skills

Manufacturing environment/work near moving mechanical parts/PPE required
