SUMMARY

Manages the Maintenance Department in Oxnard, CA by supervising daily work and schedules as well as capital projects and using the computerized maintenance management system. Also provides technical support by training and troubleshooting with maintenance and manufacturing personnel.  May be required to back up other positions as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Other duties may be assigned.

 Maintenance (80%)

 Provides technical support by training and troubleshooting to maintenance and manufacturing personnel. Insures that all department safety practices are followed. Maintains good employee relations.

 Interprets operational manuals, manufacturer’s specifications, blueprints and schematics for manufacturing and ancillary equipment.

 Provides guidance and at least 10-15 years extensive knowledge in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, machining and fabrication.

 Assigns and supervises daily work schedules of all department personnel. Verifies the timekeeping records are correct

 Manages and initiates PM program and tracks results

 Initiates Continuous Improvement programs

 Remains current on all OSHA, Arc Flash, and LO/TO procedures and updates as required

 Purchasing: (20%)

 Manages a vendor base to ensure quality product availability while minimizing costs and maintaining the highest of service levels to the plant. Includes operating supplies, repair and maintenance support and services.

 Manages storeroom supplies related to R&M.

 Researches and executes capital appropriation expenditures.

 Manages procurement activity of repair and maintenance goods and services via requisitions.

 Assist Purchasing Agent in reconciliation of invoice discrepancies and approves for payment.

 Manages and trains employees related to computer purchasing system.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Work schedule includes the availability of the maintenance manager to respond to work scheduled or not at any time as needed including weekends.

Directly supervises all employees in the Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees(must train lead guy); planning, assigning, checking, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; costs; operation methods; establishing standards of performance; maintaining quality standards; maintaining quantity standards; interpreting/shaping policy; and carrying out established policy.  Must create a report and record data on all repairs and maintenance projects in Software.  Also responsible for creating preventative maintenance program as well as scheduling all maintenance.

 EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

The education requirements and experience requirement listed here indicate the minimum basic educational knowledge and minimum previous work-related experience required by the job duties of the position.

 Education:

Professional, technical or administrative training; including knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques, and a broad shop background in a recognized trade, equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship training.

Experience:

A minimum 7 years work-related experience is required to qualify for this position, in addition to a minimum of 3 months to adapt to specific job itself.

An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
