As our Student Veterans Support Specialist, you will be a member of the Counseling & Wellness Center’s senior staff clinical team. You will collaborate with the Veterans Support Office and specialize in veteran and military-connected student mental health and wellness. In this position, you serve as a visible, dedicated therapist that specializes in improving access to mental health support for diverse veteran and military-dependent students, ensuring that their unique needs are addressed and supported. You will uphold the university’s mission of treating all community members with respect and dignity, as well as pursuing justice and equity in your practices. You will also directly assist in increasing persistence to graduation for all students and promoting holistic wellness through strong community partnerships.

 In this role you will: 

  • Provide culturally informed, time-limited clinical services (individual, couples, and group counseling)
  • Provide triage and crisis intervention
  • Coordinate programming and outreach between the Counseling & Wellness Center, Veterans Support Office, and campus partners
  • Provide programming to support the holistic wellness of diverse student veterans and military dependents
  • Provide consultation and outreach to faculty, staff, families, student organizations, and other campus offices
  • Participate in the doctoral training program by leading intern seminars, supervision, and consultation
  • Participate in administrative activities
  • This is an 11-month cyclic position.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mental health discipline.
  • Licensed in the State of Washington as a mental health care provider or eligible for licensure and obtain licensure within thirty-six months of beginning position.
  • Ability to provide brief and focused therapy.
  • Experience providing group therapy.
  • Demonstrated experience providing therapy and outreach to veteran or military-connected communities.
  • Experience providing risk assessment and crisis response.
  • Experience working as a part of a collaborative, team-based approach to clinical services in a fast- paced work setting.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a CACREP-accredited or CSWE-accredited graduate program.
  • Minimum of one-year experience working in a college or university counseling center (practicum/internship may be included).
  • Experience providing mental health or case management services in a Veterans Affairs Medical Center or Clinic.

Salary: $4,935 – $5,758 per month, commensurate with experience and comes with excellent benefits!
