Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training, located just outside the beautiful city of Albany, NY. At Glenmont Job Corps Center, we support the Job Corps program’s mission to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable, independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education.

Glenmont Job Corps is currently seeking a candidate to fill the role of a Recreation Specialist. The ideal candidate would bring energy and enthusiasm to the overall Center, as well as a desire to be part of educating and empowering today’s youth.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

•High School Diploma required. Associates of Arts Degree or 1 year related experience working with youth.

•Must possess a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements. CDL preferred.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for working with Recreation team to provide students with a comprehensive and diverse recreation program. Promotes health and wellness through overseeing the recreation activities as outlined on the approved recreation schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Assists with the supervision of a comprehensive and diverse recreation program.

•Coordinates recreation activities with Career Preparation Program and Social Development departments to include evening programming.

•Coordinates recreation and leadership activities/programs with Center and local community resources.

•Ensures safe practices and program compliance within prescribed safety guidelines.

•Documents student participation and accountability during recreation activities.

•Maintains inventory of equipment and material and controls their use. Recommends purchase of specific equipment. Performs repairs on equipment as needed.

•Responsible for the overall appearance, condition and organization of the recreation department facilities.

•Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.

•Other duties as assigned.

HOURS:

Monday: 4pm – 8pm, Tuesday & Wednesday: 6pm – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday: 2pm – 6pm
