Markham currently has an immediate opening for the following:
Take-off Estimator is responsible for the utilization of basic estimating software to determine quantities of material for a bid or on an existing job. Take-off Estimator is also responsible for plan scanning/duplication, obtaining CADD files, assisting Project Leaders and Estimators in plan and quantity comparisons. He or she must be able to complete accurate take-offs in a fast paced environment. He must be able to explain methods used to determine quantities and assist training others to use software and methods for accurate quantity estimates. Take-off estimator assists in various departments within the company in the event of an absence.
Responsibilities
Create earthwork, material, highway, and profile takeoffs for Estimators and Project Leaders.
Contact engineers and or owner for plans and CADD files as directed.
Create necessary folders for bid file.
Precisely complete takeoff quantities, linear feet, square feet, and count objects on plans within an assigned time frame.
Download and scan plans.
Explain to others the methods and software used to complete quantity estimates.
Provide back up to various departments in the event of an absence.
Qualifications
Possess basic estimating software experience.
Possess basic knowledge of construction terms and standards.
Ability to represent Markham in a professional manner.
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
Possess above average math skills.
Capable of obtaining basic knowledge of the operation of plan scanners and downloading directly from online sources.
Attention to details with strict adherence to deadlines.
Aptitude towards computer software with the ability to learn new uses and have the capacity to train others in a variety of estimating software programs, such as: CADD/Take-off and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to quantify and calculate small takeoffs without a computer.
Possess above average organizational skills and communication skills.
