The Level IV Installer has demonstrated proficiency in all facets of DC power and aux framing installation. Level IV Installers take the lead on assigned projects for the execution of our work, the management of crews and subcontractors in the field, mentoring of Installers on our team, and the completion of deliverables in accordance with the quality standards to which we are held by our customers and our TL9000 quality system. Level IV Installers report to the Service Manager.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Performs the same work operations / job functions as a Level III Installer
- As assigned, performs as Lead Installer / In-Charge on projects
- Performs additions, removals, wiring connections, and modifications on working equipment and circuits
- Performs: circuit modifications, software adds or upgrades, writing and submitting mops, power transition work, addition and removal of batteries, addition and removal of circuits on working power distribution sources, equipment test and turn up, overseeing volatile work activities, and expert efficiency in the overall installation and maintenance of power systems and batteries, controller programming, trouble shooting equipment, controllers, alarms, modules, ect.
MANAGERIAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- Takes ownership of installation activities in the field on assigned projects; this includes coordinating with Service and Engineering Managers to ensure install team has complete clarity of project goals (budget, schedule, design document intent, quality)
- Serves as a resource to the installation team to provide guidance and in the moment feedback on quality, work habits and progress
- Works with Service Manager to justify and acquire resources (men, material, logistics, etc.) as needed
- As directed by Service Manager (required for AT&T jobs), visits job sites near the completion of our work to perform an internal quality audit and recommend corrective measures for defects found to Service Manager so that jobs are turned over in strict accordance with customer expectations, NEC, TP, NSTD and BCI standards
- Supports and ensures new processes and protocols are fully implemented, adopted and adhered to by Installation personnel
- Contributes to the scheduling process with timely, reliable feedback on project progress
- Looks forward to identify potential roadblocks / risks and brings them to the immediate attention of Service Manager and Engineer, as appropriate
- Promptly communicates conditions with bearing on the design or installation of the project to Project Engineer and Service Manager
- Writes and submits MOPs and project documentation to the customer as directed to assure coverage, change controls, test & acceptance and similar requirements are met in accordance with project due date
- Completes all required internal and external reporting, including nightly reporting on projects where serving as In-Charge
- On a daily basis, verifies and approves work hours charged by Installers to assigned projects
- Demonstrates sound judgment when making decisions with bearing on company and project profitability
MENTORING AND DEVELOPMENT
- Shares knowledge and experience with all Installation team members in the field to grow our future Level IV Installers
- Trains junior teammates in the MOP writing process
- Models BCI best practices for safety, material receiving, on site inventory and storage, tool handling, storage and transport; efficient installation, contractor management, quality installation, customer relations, coordination with other trades and team unity
- Provides objective feedback to Service Manager regarding performance, growth and development of junior Installation team members
- Identifies opportunities to improve training practices and takes an active role in developing and delivering Installer training
- Shares knowledge and situational awareness proactively with Field team to strengthen the organization
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES
- As a resource to Service Manager and Engineering during the quote process, uses knowledge of our installation practices, manpower resources and customer requirements to develop accurate estimates of required labor hours
- May be called upon to attend site surveys with Engineer as an installation SME
- Surveys and quotes basic projects as needed
